Clubhouse of the Year!

We're delighted to announce that Mannings Heath Golf Club has been awarded “Clubhouse of the Year 2007” by ClubHouse Magazine winning over some pretty stiff competition including Celtic Manor (hosts of the 2010 Ryder Cup), Gleneagles and Sunningdale Golf Club.

The award is given to the clubhouse which, in the judges’ opinion, has shown over-all excellence and illustrated its success in meeting member and visitor needs.

Peugeot Golf Guide 2008

Acknowledged world wide as the travelling golfer’s “bible” the Peugoet Golf Guide 2008 reported: “If we were to give clubhouses a score for artistic content, Mannings Heath would be up there with the front runners”.

The Peugeot Golf Guide 2008-2009, the most influential manual on where to play in Europe and widely regarded as “golf’s answer to the Michelin Guide”, has judged the 36-hole West Sussex complex to be one of the most complete clubs amongst 1,000 hand picked courses it surveys in Europe each year.

What makes the Peugeot Guide so authoritative is that its judgements are based on the personal experiences of 60 knowledgeable golfers including top pros, national champions and journalists who turn up unannounced, pay green fees, experience what is on offer and then make their no-holds-barred reports. This is the ninth edition of the Guide and total independence is paramount in the assessment of the 1,000 venues.

Manning Heath is one of only two West Sussex Golf Clubs featured in the Guide which aims to help golf enthusiasts find the very best courses in Europe. The 100 year old Waterfall Course was awarded 16 points out of 20 which evaluates the quality of the design and location of the course and the all important consistency of presentation. In the Guide the Waterfall Course is described by the experts as “one of England’s finest inland courses that is constantly evolving, set in a magical corner of Sussex”.

Gary Player one of the game’s great golfing legends described the par-four eleventh hole as one of the best eighteen holes in the world. It was an unequivocal judgement from the globe-trotting winner of eight major championships who has competed on all the championship courses in every continent and designed more than 200 course world wide.
