Quality specimen fishing in peaceful
As well as two quality golf courses,
the estate is home to an 11 acre lake well stocked with Carp
Hawkins Pond, in north-west Sussex, is a
quality fishery limited to 70 anglers. Rules are kept to a minimum
and a high level of responsible behaviour and respect for the fish
is expected. Hence there are no bait bans etc because members value
the privilege of membership.

At present it is believed there are around 10 carp over 30lbs in
the water and at least thirty-five or so 20lb+ carp. All carp are

species include Tench, Roach, Rudd and Perch. Regular stocking has
seen the introduction of rapid growing fish of the classic Fishers
Pond strain, grown on by Mark Simmonds, as stocked by Cemex into
Horton, Yateley etc, which will continue to increase the number of
twenty and thirty pound Carp in future years.
In March 2011 the lake was netted and Bream
along with small Roach and Rudd were removed. This reduction in
fish biomass is intended to increase the natural foods and anglers
baits available to boost the carp growth rates.
Natural England regard Hawkins as one of their
premier sites where angling takes place alongside conservation.
They are especially pleased that the fishery is virtually
Hawkins Pond falls within a Site of Special
Scientific Interest, so we are obliged to respect the environment.
The fishery closes from June 1st until June 15th inclusive to rest
the fish before/after spawning. Three rods are permitted, maximum
stay on the water 48 hours. Off-road parking is available.
Hawkins is not an easy venue but the
versatile, thinking angler who puts in the hours and gets to know
the water will get results, which sometimes can be spectacular!
